Maestro James Lewitzke is a polystylist. He has a hybrid voice, combining a variety of different musical techniques into his works.

His music is heavily influenced by the emotion, free expression and individualism of romantics like Beethoven and Rachmaninoff; the return to order, balance and emotional restraint of neoclassicals like Igor Stravinsky; and the polystylistic creativity of post-modernists like Dimitri Shostakovich.

James’ music is artful and complex, characterized by layered textures of sharp contrast, elements of the surreal and tonal harmony.
