Introducing a New Musical Catalog

OK so I’ve decided that I need to come up with a new cataloging system for some new (or old, depending on how you want to look at it) music that I will end up working on in the future.

The Opus Catalog is great, and I definitely plan to continue using it for my own original works. However, I’ve decided I need something different for the covers that I would like to write (and those pieces don’t quite fall under the same list as my current, new works).

These may include various forms like solo piano, orchestral arrangements, or just a new style of instrumentation that I believe people may enjoy. Many probably won’t be an exact match to their original counterparts, as I may like to occasionally take on a unique interpretation of a piece that I am a fan of and enjoy listening to (hopefully without destroying the original’s artistic expressions too much 🙂 )

So, after I connect with the musicians, distributors, or whomever may hold the rights to the individual works I’d like to recreate in some fashion, as I want to make sure all the copyrights and legal issues are handled fairly and credit is given its proper due, here’s how the musical name will be formatted:

Name of Piece, Name of Composer(s), Number of work in my Cover Repertoire

You can see an example of such with my first cover, a great Chopin Nocturne from his 9th opus:
Nocturne No. 2 in E-Flat Major, Chopin, Cv. 1
